Trillmonga Presents: The Durty Dozen Showcase Part 2

Dirty12New-6.jpg

DJ Ant Durty (@djantdurty) recently did what many DJ’s can’t and don’t do very often. He had an idea for an artist showcase, booked talent, and executed the event seamlessly. The Durty Dozen Showcase took place at Atlanta’s newest hotspot; VODS Lounge & Bistro (@vodsatl) on February 20th, between 7-10 PM.

The showcase was hosted by Young Day Day (@Yungdaddynasty), who says he isn’t a comedian, but I beg to differ. The few moments I spent with him were spent laughing; which made him the perfect person to keep the crowd engaged and excited to see the upcoming performers. Young Day Day is originally from LA but has lived in Atlanta for the past 10 years and works the room like a native that grew up with everyone in his presence.

Trillmonga.com was granted the opportunity to sit down with many of the performers and featured artists. See what we found out about your new faves below. This is the second part of the artist interviews. Make sure to follow them on social media and download their music immediately!

·         Cash (@cashtalk1)- Originally from Atlanta, he’s been rapping for 10 years. He began rapping when one of his friends was killed. Another friend went to prison and would send Cash his raps from inside. Being a local, he grew up around Gucci Mane and Young Thug and counts some of his biggest influences as TI, Jeezy, and Trey Songz. His latest single “Can’t Be Life” is a remake of Lyfe Jennings’ “Must Be Nice”, and Cash is singing and rapping on this song. His upcoming EP: “ Cash 3” is a 3 song, 3 visual, 3 vibe project.

·         Joker (@globaljoker) YouTube: Jokerglobal- Rapping since he was 14, Joker is Atlanta born and bred. Joker was extremely personable and was actually the only one to come over and say goodnight to me before he left. He credits Lil’ Wayne and Andre 3000 as his biggest influences along with Travis Porter. Raised on Jazz music, Joker didn’t really get into rap until about 2007. Because of his exposure to Jazz, he is considering incorporating it into his upcoming music which isn’t done too often. Joker says he never plans on writing specific songs, and his writing is dictated by the type of vibe he experiences when he hears a track.

·         Real Street Visions Ent. – (@realstreetvisions) (@shank4president) (@glenwoodslim)-Native Atliens, from Gwinnett and the East Side respectively; Shank4President and Glenwood Slim have known each other for almost 19 years but have been performing together for about 5. Shank was already in the music industry as a manager and started rapping when his former artist wasn’t fulfilling his duties as such. Around the same time, Glenwood was coming home and had built quite an arsenal of music during his time away.  At this point; they combined forces to form this collective. They describe their sound as original street music. While they incorporate melodies into their music, they count their influences as Jeezy, TI, 2Chainz, Master P., Jay-Z, 2Pac, and Biggie. They also enjoy trap rappers; Yo Gotti, Gucci Mane, Fabolous, The Clipse, Pusha T, J. Cole, Drake, Lil’ Baby, and 21 Savage. They say that they make music about what they are actually living. 90% of their music is factual only 10% is entertainment, and they won’t dumb their music down for today’s consumers.

Latest Single: Trap House

·         Raised Real Gunna (@raisedrealgunna)- This nice gentleman sat down, called me Ma’am and I immediately wanted to fight him. Just kidding, lol. Hailing from Madison, GA, he’s only been seriously rapping for about a year. Gunna told us that his process in creating music is to freestyle as he doesn’t physically write his rhymes. He also only allows people in the studio that he trusts. Everyone has a story, but his is unique in that he cycled through group homes while growing up until completely aging out of the system. His biggest influences are Lil’ Durk and Young Thug.

Latest Singles: Mobbin’

 Today

·         Runway Richy (@runwayrichy)- Runway Richy walked into the venue with his hood up, and an incognito mystique. He was a man of few words but made sure to get his point across with the words he did use.  Born in New Orleans, Runway Richy has been in Atlanta since he was 4 years old and claims Decatur as home. Rapping for 14 years, Richy doesn’t look at other rappers for inspiration, he looks within himself for that. His latest single; “Trapping Ain’t Dead” was produced by @saucelordrich and samples Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise”.

Latest Single: Trapping Ain’t Dead

Mixtape: China Cafeteria 3

·         Drako (@datdamn_drako)- Originally from Pensacola, FL; but currently residing in Detroit. He is considering moving to Atlanta, to continue pursuing his music career. He’s been rapping for a while, but his early musical influences came from his father who was in a Jamaican band, which introduced him to live instrumentation. He credits Michael Jackson as his biggest influence that inspired him to rap, which is why his name is Drako JaXson. He also mentioned that melodies inspire his sound, so it came as no surprise that he says Future is an influence as well. While those are big names in the music industry, Drako sited his daughter London as his biggest inspiration.

Latest Single: Demons Produced by DJNaro
